7 ways to get the most out of Apple Music
If you’re an Apple Music customer or are thinking of subscribing, there are numerous ways for you to get the most out of the service to enjoy the vast catalogue of music that is literally at your fingertips.
Sometimes the problem of having so much choice is working out where to start.
Music is a constant companion for many people but it’s not just about listening to your favourite music and artists but also discovering new music and rediscovering the hits from the past.
Here are seven ways you can get the most out of Apple Music:
1 CREATE A PLAYLIST
Remember those old mix tapes we put all your favourite tracks on one cassette? Well, think of the playlist as the 21st century version of that.
Playlist is a great way of grouping tracks together to match an occasion or a moor as background music for your next dinner party or BBQ
And it’s really easy to do.
Simply pick a song and use a long press or 3D Touch to bring up the menu and then choose Add To Playlist > New Playlist.
From here you simply give your playlist a name and then add as many more songs as you want.
- ADD ONE OF APPLE’S PLAYLISTS
Apple has a bunch of music editors around the world that handpick songs to make playlists.
They are not using algorithms or computers to come up with – it’s a human being making those choices.
These playlists can be everything from today’s hits and workout music to chill and feel good tunes.
There are even playlists that have been created based on what music you’ve already been listening to.
Click on the For You tab at the bottom to discover the latest playlists.
You can save any of these playlists to your library by tapping the + Add.
- FIND MUSIC TO SUIT YOUR MOOD OR THE MOMENT
We listen to music when we’re driving, when we’re working out, when we’re trying to focus, when we’re trying to sleep, when we’re feeling good or when we’re feeling blue.
Hit the Browse tab you will notice these various mood or occasion based playlists along with featured artists and all the latest music.
- RADIO STATIONS
Apple Music has a bunch of radio stations which are constantly playing various genres and the latest hits.
To discover these keep the Radio tab at the bottom of the screen.
You will not only see the featured beats but will also be able to listen to Beats 1 and other radio stations dedicated to all types of music including rock, electronic, love songs, alternative, smooth jazz, metal and disco.
Unlike a regular radio station you don’t have to do anything, just press play for endless listening.
- LISTEN TO YOUR FAVOURITE ARTISTS
It’s easy to listen to your favourite artists on Apple Music and were not just talking about songs and albums.
You can also access interviews, live performances, videos and playlists all in one place.
- DOWNLOAD YOUR MUSIC TO LISTEN TO OFFLINE
We’re not always connected to the internet to stream our music. We might be on a plane or on the road or in a poor reception area.
Apple Music allows customers to download songs, albums and playlists to their device’s memory so they can listen even when they are off-line.
When you find the album or playlist you like to download simply tap the cloud and arrow symbol.
- EXCLUSIVE SHOWS FROM YOUR FAVOURITE ARTISTS
Since Apple introduced iTunes more than 10 years ago it has built great relationships with some of the world’s best artists.
Now those same musicians have created their own radio shows which can only be heard on Beats 1 on Apple Music.
Users can trial Apple Music free for three months and then it will cost $5.99 a month for students, $11.99 a month for individuals or $17.99 a month for families which can be accessed by up to six people.
