After delivering Whole Foods Market Inc. items in the Sacramento area for more than a yearAmazon.com Inc. is offering an additional grocery option to local customers.

A Prime membership costs $119 per year.

Prime members previously paid a $14.99 monthly subscription fee for the Amazon Fresh service, but Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN) recently eliminated that fee, CNN reported last month.

Two-hour Amazon Fresh delivery is free for orders of $35 or more and one-hour delivery costs $4.99, according to Amazon.

Local customers who previously got Whole Foods grocery products delivered through Amazon can start using Amazon Fresh immediately. Other shoppers can request an invitation to use the service.

The local expansion of Amazon Fresh comes as other grocers ramp up their e-commerce offerings. In September, West Sacramento-based Raley’s announced it’s offering home delivery service through Instacart, a San Francisco-based company that serves thousands of cities, spanning the U.S. and Canada. In 2017, Raley’s began offering same-day delivery through its own eCart program.

And earlier this month, Walmart Inc. said it would expand its Delivery Unlimited program to parts of the Sacramento area. Customers can pay either a yearly $98 fee or a monthly $12.95 fee to receive unlimited grocery delivery orders.
