Apple Pay now available for National Australia Bank customers
National Australia Bank customers will now be able to access Apple Pay with their iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad or Mac with an eligible Visa debit or credit card.
The service is now live for NAB personal and business customers so they can make an easy, secure and private payment with their Apple device.
“We’ve been hearing from customers that they want Apple Pay and it’s great to be able to launch this service today,” says NAB chief customer experience officer Rachel Slade.
“We’re continuing to listen to customer feedback and take action to become the bank our customers want.
“As part of our transformation we are investing significantly in our technology and digital services to support our customers to manage their money how they choose.”
Apple Pay can be used in store and online in a secure transaction that is verified using Face ID or Touch ID on your Apple device.
Here’s what NAB customers need to do to set up Apple Pay:
- Open the Wallet app and tap the + in the top right corner.
- Follow the prompts to add your NAB Visa card.
- Your identity will be verified via SMS as part of the set up.
- Apple Watch users will be prompted to set this up after your identity has been verified.
When using Apple Pay, the actual credit card numbers are not stored on the device or on Apple’s servers.
Instead a unique number is assigned to the transaction and encrypted before being securely stored in the secure element on the device.
Each transaction is authorised with a one-time unique dynamic security code so it’s actually safer and more secure than using your actual credit or debit card.
National Australia Bank is the latest to offer Apple Pay to its customers following the Commonwealth Bank in January.
ANZ was the first of the major banks to offer Apple Pay back in 2016.
Westpac is now the last of the major banks yet to offer Apple Pay.
