Warren Mayor Jim Fouts Allegedly Caught On Another Vulgar, Violent Recording

Fouts said the audio is “manufactured” and “politically motivated.”

WARREN, Mich. (WWJ) — A recently released audio recording allegedly captured Warren Mayor Jim Fouts saying he would like to beat and shoot a person in the head.

The recording, released by a Vimeo user with the username “Joe Warren” alleges Fouts went on a vulgar rant about a person named “Henry,” purportedly his former chief of Staff, Henry Krzystowczyk, who died earlier this year.

In the undated recording, a man’s voice — allegedly Fouts — says “I’d like to take a 2-by-4 and I’d like to beat the f—— s— out of him,” in reference to “Henry.” The voice goes on to say “I’d like to take a gun and shoot him through the f—— head. I could easily get a gun and shoot Henry. I’d enjoy shooting him.”

The release of the recording — which is accompanied by a photo of Fouts and Krzystowczyk on the Vimeo post — comes two weeks before Fouts is up for re-election as Warren’s mayor. Fouts, according to a story by The Detroit Free Press, has denied that it is his voice on the recording and called it “manufactured” and politically motivated.

“This is obviously a last-minute, politically motivated gimmick to influence the election in an adverse way,” Fouts told the Free Press.

Fouts has been the subject of multiple recordings of the same ilk in recent years, including tapes that alleged he disparaged the LGBT community in 2018, mocked disabled people, as well as using racial slurs and talking about underage prostitutes overseas in other tapes. Fouts has denied all such allegations and said live on WWJ in January he was “bored and uninterested” in the allegations.

The latest claims come just as an article by Vice entitled “This Mayor Allegedly Said Vile, Racist Things on Tape. Voters Still Stand by Him” began making its rounds on Monday.

Fouts, first elected mayor of Michigan’s third largest city in 2007, is up for a fourth term on Nov. 5, squaring off with Councilwoman Kelly Colegio. Colegio told the Free Press she has no connection to the tape.

The video is available on Vimeo. NOTE — recording contains explicit language.

“He’s the one deflecting, trying to deflect away from the comments and turn it into something political versus him taking responsibility for his own words,” Colegio said, according to the Free Press.
